VANCOUVER — Sharon Pesut and Partners in Careers were named Community Partner of the Year during the Nov. 14 statewide Washington Workforce Association conference.

The Vancouver-based nonprofit was selected among nominees from across the state for its dedication to helping Southwest Washington adults and youth get training and assistance to be successful in the workforce.

“Sharon and the incredible team at Partners In Careers have been invaluable contributors to our workforce community; their work is essential to building up the entire workforce,” said Sean Moore, senior project manager for health care at Workforce Southwest Washington. “Partners in Careers’ unique approach creates career pathways and builds capacity for individuals, meeting them where they are and helping them achieve sustainable success.”

Pesut, who has led Partners in Careers for the past 13 years and helped expand youth and veteran programs, was lauded for her leadership, mentorship, collaboration and behind-the-scenes efforts not only for Partners in Careers but for numerous organizations around the community.

Partners in Careers is a nonprofit organization that serves low-income parents who want to create stability for themselves and their children, refugees and immigrants looking for a new life in the U.S., homeless veterans wanting to reintegrate into civilian life, families recovering from domestic violence, and young people striving to create successful careers and life plans after high school.
