A speeding, impaired driver was seriously injured Wednesday morning when his truck rolled, and he was partially ejected from the vehicle in east Vancouver, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

According to a police statement, about 8:30 a.m. the driver of a Ford F-150 was westbound on Burton Road near 109th Avenue when he drove off the road, through a chain-link fence and up an embankment toward Interstate 205.

The truck rolled back down the hill, coming to a stop on the driver’s side in a field just east of the freeway, police said.

The driver was not wearing a seat belt, police said, and was partially ejected from the truck. He suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Authorities did not release the driver’s identity.

Vancouver police say speed and impairment were factors in the crash.

The Vancouver police traffic unit is investigating.
