How Clark County College Football Players Fared: Sawyer Racanelli finds his role among Montana receivers

It has been a long road, but Sawyer Racanelli has become a fixture among Montana’s receiving corps.

Racanelli had four catches for a career-high 65 yards Saturday in a 31-20 win over Northern Arizona. The redshirt senior from Hockinson has made catches in six of the Grizzlies seven games and moved into a starting role.

Big things were expected of Racanelli when he arrived at Montana as a transfer from Washington, where he spent two years largely on special teams. But the two-time Class 2A state champion missed all of the 2022 season after suffering a knee injury in spring practice.

Racanelli played a major supporting role last season in doing a bit of everything. He caught 10 passes for 130 yards, threw a touchdown pass and even blocked a punt in the FCS playoffs against Delaware. He appeared in all 15 games and made two starts.

After last season, Racanelli was named the team’s Pat Norwood Award winner for most inspirational player.

Here’s how other collegiate football players from Clark County at four-year programs fared. (Blank signifies a bye week).
