Fishing Report: lower Columbia River, tributary summary for week of Oct. 7-13

On the lower Columbia River between Rocky Point/Tongue Point line upstream to Bonneville Dam there were 291 salmonid boats and 41 Washington bank rods tallied on Oct. 12.

MAINSTEM COLUMBIA

Salmon/Steelhead

Sec. 1 (Bonneville) — 82 bank anglers kept eight Chinook, three Chinook jacks, five coho and released one Chinook jack; 31 boats/77 rods kept 46 Chinook, 10 Chinook jacks, eight coho and two coho jacks.

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) — Two bank anglers had no catch; 50 boats/89 rods kept 10 Chinook, four Chinook jacks, six coho, one coho jack, released three Chinook jacks and one coho.

Sec 3 (I-5 area) — Nine boats/19 rods kept two Chinook and released two Chinook.

Sec 4 (Vancouver) — Five bank anglers had no catch; 33 boats/68 rods kept 13 Chinook, one Chinook jack, seven coho, three coho jacks, released two Chinook jacks and three coho.

Sec 5 (Woodland) — 40 boats/89 rods kept six Chinook, two Chinook jacks, 10 coho, five coho jacks and released two coho jacks.

Sec 6 (Kalama) — 27 bank anglers had no catch; 13 boats/35 rods kept seven Chinook and five coho.

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) — One boat/one rod kept one coho.

Sec 8 (Longview) — Two bank anglers had no catch; five boats/nine rods kept one Chinook and released one coho.

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) — Four boats/seven rods had no catch.

COLUMBIA TRIBUTARIES

Salmon/Steelhead

Cowlitz River I-5 bridge downstream — 80 bank rods kept four coho, three coho jack, released three coho and two coho jacks; nine boats/16 rods kept five coho, released one Chinook and two coho.

Cowlitz River above the I-5 bridge — 49 bank rods kept one steelhead and released eight Chinook; one boat/two rods released one Chinook.

Kalama River — Six bank rods had no catch.

Lewis River — 13 bank rods kept eight coho; five boats/eight rods kept one coho and released one coho.

Wind River — One bank rod had no catch; 27 boats/62 rods kept 13 Chinook, 31 coho, released three Chinook and three coho.

Drano Lake — 35 bank rods kept one coho, one steelhead, released six coho and three steelhead; 76 boats/204 rods kept 42 Chinook, nine Chinook jacks, 61 coho, one coho jack, six steelhead, released 29 Chinook, 10 coho and seven steelhead.

Klickitat River below Fisher Hill Bridge — 62 bank rods kept three Chinook, two Chinook jacks, two coho and one coho jack; one boat/two rods had no catch.

Klickitat River above No. 5 Fishway — 11 bank rods kept one Chinook and released one steelhead; one boat/three rods kept one Chinook and one steelhead.
