How Clark County College Football Players Fared: Kyle Chen stands out in first Air Force start

Kyle Chen made his first career start for the Air Force Academy on Saturday, recording a team-high seven tackles in a 31-3 loss to Baylor.

The sophomore cornerback from Mountain View also forced a fumble, which he recovered near midfield inside the final minute of the first half.

Chen earned All-State honors at Mountain View and was a two-time member of The Columbian’s All-Region team as a defensive back.

Here’s how other collegiate football players from Clark County at four-year programs fared. (Blank signifies a bye week).

Air Force

Kyle Chen, Mountain View, So., DB —  Started at cornerback in a 31-3 loss to Baylor. Had a team-high seven tackles, including six solo plus one forced fumble that he recovered.

Black Hills State

Jake Blair, Camas, So.*, QB —  Did not play in a 24-14 loss to Saint Thomas.

Charlie Bump, Camas, So.*, WR — Had two catches for 25 yards, with a long of 19 yards.

 

Buffalo

Tristan Souza, Camas, Jr., DT —  Started at defensive tackle in a 34-3 win over UMass. Did not record a tackle.

California

Tobias Merriweather, Union, Jr., WR — Did not play in a 31-10 win over San Diego State.

Rush Reimer, Camas, Sr., OL — Started a left guard for an offense that gained 473 yards.

 

Central College (Iowa)

Kyle Norton, Evergreen, Jr., RB —  Did not play in a 35-10 win over California Lutheran.

 

Central Washington

Josiah Cochran, Skyview, Sr.*, DL — Started at defensive tackle in a 28-12 win over Colorado Mesa. Did not record a tackle.

Dylan Dean, Columbia River, Jr.*, OL —  Did not play.

Ty Evans, Skyview, Fr.*, DL —   Did not play.

Tyler Flanagan, Woodland, Jr.*, RB —  Started at running back. Had 19 carries for 81 yards including a 2 yard touchdown and a long of 29 yards. Also had one kickoff return for 11 yards.

Ben Hallead, Union, Fr., WR —  Did not play.

Mitchell Johnson, Mountain View, Fr.*, QB —  Did not play.

Vinny Lenzi, Ridgefield, Jr., LS — Did not play.

Jarius Phillips, Camas, So.*, LB —  Did not play.

Eastern Michigan

Zyell Griffin, Evergreen, Sr, WR —  Had two catches for 20 yards in a 37-34 overtime win over Jacksonville State.

 

Eastern Oregon

Wyatt Bartroff, Ridgefield, So., LB — Did not play in a 31-19 loss to Whitworth.

Owen Wann, Battle Ground, Jr., LB — Did not play.

Eastern Washington

Brock Harrison, Ridgefield, Grad. student, DL —  Started at defensive end in a 28-24 loss to Southeastern Louisiana. Had five tackles, including two solo and 11/2 sacks.

Tyson Jacobson, Camas, So.*, LS — Handled long-snapping duties as the Eagles went 3 for 3 on extra points and 1 for 1 on field goals.

Jonathan Landry, Evergreen, Fr.*, DB — Did not play.

Aiden Nicholson, Mountain View, Fr., WR — Did not play.
