Letter: County should keep golf course

I don’t know what is more outrageous, the decision by Clark County commissioners to sell one of the two public golf courses in the county, or acting like tinpot dictators making that decision in secret completely out of the public eye.

Tri-Mountain is a gem of a municipal golf course that is used by hundreds of women and men of all ages each week. It is a well-maintained great test of shot-making with a wide variety of holes. It is a significant asset to our community, and the difficulty in getting a tee time is a testament to its popularity.

Clark County is a golfing desert, forcing players to Portland, Cowlitz or Skamania counties, or Hood River. A stark contrast to Spokane County, where seven of the 12 public courses are city or county owned. Commissioners portrayed this as a trade-off with a new jail. No one is going to move or stay here because of a nice jail. They need to reverse their decision and then resign. They have violated public trust, not to mention displayed a remarkable lack of imagination.
