The Union boys soccer team walked off with a 2-0 win over Evergreen on Wednesday.
But the Titans were frustrated that they didn’t score more.
And that’s why coach Jason Moore wants his team to be more aggressive in the attacking third.
“(I tell them) push the ball into space and take a shot,” Moore said. “I don’t care if you’re 40 yards away. Just shoot the ball. Just let yourself be OK with that. I’m over-giving permission to shoot, if that makes sense.”
Union had the bulk of the offensive pressure in the first half, leading to Canaan Moore’s goal in the 28th minute. But the Titans only took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
Things appeared like they might break open after Aaron Anitok-Brokken converted for a goal three minutes in the second half.
But the onslaught of goals never came.
“I think that early goal in the second didn’t help,” Jason Moore said. “I think we got that and guys kind of relaxed a bit. And I’m like ‘No! No! You got to keep pushing.’ ”
The Titans will need to push for 80 minutes in their next match when Union travels to play Sumner on Saturday.
