Prep highlights (April 10): Skyview baseball wins pitchers duel over R.A Long

Dylan Goetz capped a 3 for 3 day with a walk-off RBI double as Skyview baseball edged R.A. Long 1-0 on Thursday.

Kyle Harker led off the bottom of the seventh with a double, setting the stage for Skyview to improve to 4-5.

Jacob Griffith, Tanner Carlsen and Owen White combined to limit R.A. Long to just one hit.

Riley Young and Jeff Rooklidge each pitched three shutout innings for R.A, Long (4-4).

Seton softball surges past Kalama

Seton Catholic softball broke a tie with three runs in the top of the seventh to beat Kalama 7-4 on Thursday and remain unbeaten in the 1A Trico League.

The Cougars (6-1, 6-0) had five hits in the seventh, including RBI singles by Kenzie Kuhnhausen, Kylie McMaster and Ainsley Percival.

Seton pitcher Jocelyn Kender had 12 strikeouts, allowing three hits and five walks over seven innings.

Brookelyn Waddle hit a solo home run to give Kalama (4-3, 4-2) a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

Stars of the day

  • Cade Horrocks, King’s Way Christian baseball, went 3 for 3 with a double and four RBI in a 12-1 win over Columbia-White Salmon.
  • Alexa Meza, Fort Vancouver softball, went 4 for 4 with two doubles and four RBI in a 14-6 win over Castle Rock in the first game of a doubleheader. She was also the winning pitcher, striking out 12 over seven innings.
  • Namya Newberry, Fort Vancouver softball, went 5 for 6 with a home run, a double and six RBI as the Trappers completed a doubleheader sweep of Castle Rock 27-8.
  • Emily Hull, Columbia River softball, went 5 for 5 with two doubles and seven RBI in a 17-12 win over Hockinson.
  • Jasmine Chen, Camas girls golf, shot 1-under par 35 and scored 37 Stableford points as the Papermakers beat Union and Prairie at Camas Meadows.
  • Peyton Lalande, Mountain View softball, had nine strikeouts over seven innings, allowing three hits and two walks in a 4-2 win over Union.
  • Mackenzie Moore, Prairie softball, allowed four hits over seven innings in an 8-1 win over Battle Ground.
  • Aidan Emery, Prairie baseball, allowed four hits over 6 2/3 innings in a 10-1 win over Mountain View.
  • Easton Ross, Seton Catholic boys soccer, scored the winning goal in the second half of a 1-0 victory over Stevenson.
