The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition is open to applicants nationwide. Contestants 18 or younger as of Jan. 1, 2026, will vie for a total of $24,000 in prize money. The competition is open to musicians in the piano, strings and woodwinds/brass categories. The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. Aug. 1. Nine finalists will be selected from the initial application pool to compete at the Young Artist Concerto Competition Finals on Oct. 12 before a panel of judges. Winners get cash prizes and will perform with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra on Jan. 17 and 18. Gold medalists win $5,000, silver medalists win $2,000 and bronze medalists win $1,000.
