Letter: Crack down on homelessness

By Joe Blatner, VANCOUVER
Published: April 14, 2025, 6:00am

As a resident of downtown Vancouver, I’m really surprised by the number of homeless tents around. Behind the 500 Broadway building when getting on the freeway, I saw smoke and lots of tents. Wouldn’t it be smart to have them taken down as soon as they go up? It would discourage them at least.

I know people will say I have no heart. Well, if you are so kind, I would be more than happy to bring them over to your neighborhood.

Also, when coming off north Interstate 5 to downtown, I noticed graffiti on the Vancouver sign. Nice citizens.

If Vancouver doesn’t wake up, they will look like Portland and businesses will suffer.
