A man is going to prison after fatally shooting his coworker in an “act fueled by jealousy,” Oregon officials said.

In April 2024, Cody James Denewith, 27, was accused of shooting Nathan Dean Anderson, 25, three times in the stomach, according to an April 14 news release from Clackamas County officials.

Anderson was transported to a hospital after being shot and died, officials said.

Detectives learned Denewith worked with Anderson at Dave’s Killer Bread and believed he had been sexually intimate with his girlfriend, Dominique Marie Britt, 27, officials said.

Days before the shooting, cops responded to the Milwaukie apartment of Britt and Denewith and arrested him after getting reports of domestic violence, officials said.

While Denewith was in jail, Britt told him she was sexually assaulted by Anderson, officials said.

He made plans to shoot Anderson and told Britt to bring his “toy,” referring to a handgun, officials said.

She later told officials she delivered the gun knowing Denewith was planning to kill Anderson, officials said.

Denewith and Britt were charged with second-degree murder, officials said.

Britt pleaded guilty to manslaughter and unlawful use of a weapon charges and was sentenced to 12 and a half years in prison, officials said.

Denewith pleaded guilty to charges of manslaughter and assault, officials said.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the manslaughter charge and an additional seven and a half years for the assault charge, officials said.

Clackamas County is about a 40-mile drive southeast of Portland.
