Jaila Ellis and Gabriella Wagner combined on a four-hitter as Heritage softball beat Mountain View 5-3 on Tuesday to open Class 3A Greater St. Helens League play.
Kenzie Thomas homered in the first inning to give Heritage a 2-0 lead.
The Timberwolves (5-3, 1-0) tacked on three runs in the second thanks to an RBI double by Skyler Jones and a two-run error on a grounder hit by Thomas.
Ellis allowed one hit, walked none and struck out six over three innings. Wagner struck out five over four innings.
Peyton Lalande went the distance for Mountain View, striking out 10 and allowing just four hits.

All-Region Sports Awards Ceremony

Cruz’s big day powers Fort Vancouver baseball
Sebastian De La Cruz went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double and five RBI as Fort Vancouver baseball trounced Stevenson 18-6 on Tuesday.
Billy Freeman went 3 for 4 and Alex Tetreault went 2 for 3 with four RBI for the Trappers.
Tetreault and Braden Morgan combined to allow four hits over five innings as Fort Vancouver improved to 4-5 overall and 2-4 in the Class 1A Trico League.
The Trappers have scored 53 runs over their last three games, including a doubleheader sweep over Onalaska on Monday.
Skyview baseball evens series with Union in extra innings
Lono Williams hit an RBI single as part of a three-run eighth inning and freshman pitcher Lucas Hinton preserved a 5-2 Skyview win over Union in their 4A Greater St. Helens League opening series.
After Union took game one 1-0 on Monday, the Storm shut out the Titans through six innings Tuesday with a two-run lead in hand.
But Union rallied in the bottom of the seventh with RBI singles from Parker Christian and Michael Donabedian, the latter coming on a bunt.
After Skyview walked Union to load the bases with two outs, Hinton entered the game and threw a strikeout to send the game to extra innings. He also retired the side in the eighth to earn the win.
Charlie Steuben led the Storm with three hits and one run scored. Williams went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Starting pitcher Tanner Carlsen limited Union to two hits across three innings with three strikeouts, and reliver Jase Wong scattered two hits across two scoreless innings.
