Actor Haley Joel Osment has been charged with public intoxication for allegedly skiing while drunk at a California resort, according to reports.
The former child star known for “The Sixth Sense” and a slew of other roles was arrested April 8 at a resort in Mammoth Lakes, TMZ reported. Resort personnel called police around 2 p.m. reporting “an allegedly intoxicated person” at the resort, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The 37-year-old actor was being held by ski patrol staff when police arrived. He was charged with public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance and released. The substance was sent for analysis and the Mono County District Attorney is mulling whether to prosecute, People reported. Us Weekly reports that a judge has already dismissed the charges.
Sources told TMZ that Osment has had a rough few months. He was one of the numerous celebrities who lost their homes in the Los Angeles wildfires in January. He fled the Eaton Fire with his dogs, passport and family photos, New York magazine reported at the time, losing 500 records and a piano his parents had given him for his 18th birthday, according to the outlet. His parents also lost their home in the fire.
