Seton Catholic softball opens two-game game lead in Trico with win over Columbia-White Salmon

Maddie Milhorn pitched a perfect game, striking out 18 of the 21 batters she faced in a 9-0 win over Battle Ground in a 4A Greater St. Helens League softball game on Thursday.

Battle Ground’s leadoff hitter Lainey McMullen was the lone Tiger to put the ball in play against Milhorn, going 0 for 3 with a lineout and two groundouts.

Milhorn stuck out every other player she faced.

Layla Royle went 3 for 4 with two RBI for Skyview. Taylor Lies and Emma Kauffman both went 2 for 3 and Malea Figueroa was 2 for 4.

Seton Catholic softball gets key win

Freshman Jocelyn Kender allowed just two runs on two hits in a complete-game win as the Seton Catholic softball beat Columbia-White Salmon 5-2 in a matchup of top Trico League teams.

All-Region Sports Awards Ceremony

The Columbian will be hosting its second annual All-Region Sports Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at The Hilton Vancouver Washington.
The event will be 6-8 p.m. Admission is $15 and includes food and drink. Tickets are available now by clicking on link.

The win improved Seton Catholic to 8-0 in the Trico League and opened a two-game lead over second-place Columbia (6-2).

Kingsley Williams went 2 for 3 with a run and a walk, an Kenzie Kuhnhausen and Ellie Travalia added RBI doubles for the Cougars.

Union tops Skyview 1-0 in baseball

Mason Korhonen tripled and scored on Drew Hertenstein’s RBI single in the third inning, then Jacob Chandler made that stand up as Union beat Skyview 1-0 in a 4A GSHL baseball game.

Chandler allowed just four hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings, striking out just one to lift the Titans.

Chandler outdueled Skyview’s Dylan Goetz, who allowed just three hits and one walk in seven innings pitched.

Stars of the day

Cade Lukens, Camas baseball, went 2 for 5 with three RBI, including the go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning as the Papermakers rallied to beat Battle Ground 9-4.

Michala Dupree, Union softball, went 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBI as the Titans scored four in the sixth to beat Camas 6-3.

Rebecca Townsend, Stevenson softball, went 3 for 4 with four runs, a double, two triples and three RBI as the Bulldogs scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat Fort Vancouver 8-6.

Grace Wickum, King’s Way Christian softball, 4 for 5 with three runs, a double, triple and RBI in a 12-10 loss to Castle Rock.

Jaila Ellis, Heritage softball, went 3 for 4 with four runs, a double, triple, two stolen bases and two RBI, and she struck out eight over five innings in an 11-1 win over Evergreen.

Billie Ross, La Center softball, went 5 for 6 with three runs, a double, home run and three RBI and pitched four innings in a 23-10 win over Kalama.

Lincoln Freeman, Fort Vancouver baseball, went 4 for 4 with four runs, two RBI, four stolen bases and struck out 10 over 4.1 innings pitched in a 16-6 win over Stevenson.

Ryker Ruelas, Seton Catholic baseball, went 5 for 5 with four runs, three doubles and two RBI in a 20-2 win over Columbia-White Salmon.

Gunnar Schockelt, La Center baseball, went 2 for 2 with three runs, a double, three RBI, two walks and pitched three scoreless innings in an 11-1 win over Kalama.

Legend Haskew, Mountain View baseball, went 2 for 3 with a run, double, triple and three RBI in a 5-3 win over Heritage.

Blake Larwick, Kelso baseball, allowed one run over five innings pitched and went 2 for 4 with an RBI in a 6-1 win over Evergreen.

Makhai Velazquez, Hockinson boys soccer, scored four goals in a 7-1 win over Washougal.

Jaydon Muodzi, Columbia River boys soccer, had a goal and three assists in a 7-2 win over Woodland.

Jasmine Chen, Camas girls golf, was medalist with a 1-under-par 35 at Camas Meadows in the Papermakers’ dual-match win over Heritage.
