Letter: Camas-Washougal RFA makes sense

By Tawn Wolfe, Washougal
Published: April 18, 2025, 6:00am

Effective Jan. 1, the agreement between Washougal and Camas for fire and EMS service will be dissolved. If the Regional Fire Authority fails, it will mean separating into two departments, causing increased costs and decreased service.

The RFA will provide increased staffing, better response times and better service, and at an equitable, fair rate for all property owners. Money supporting the RFA will go directly to the RFA and not into city coffers to be dispersed. All assets, including fire stations and equipment, will still be owned by us, the citizens and taxpayers of Washougal and Camas.
