Letter: Support regional fire authority

By Stephanie Cartmill, Camas
Published: April 19, 2025, 6:00am

Vote “yes” for the Camas-Washougal Regional Fire Authority. The RFA has been thoroughly researched by three studies since 2017 and recommended by leaders of both cities. It improves fire and EMS service. There are 16 RFA’s in Washington and not one has ever failed once formed. If rejected, the fire department will be separate, costing taxpayers more.

Benefits:

  •  Adds one firefighter on each engine on each shift.
  •  Eliminates out-of-pocket ambulance costs for residents of both cities.
  •  Provides transparent funding.
  •  Stabilizes short-term funding while allowing for long-term planning.

Vote “yes” to form a Regional Fire Authority.
