TV Q&A: Will ‘Water for Chocolate’ resolve cliffhanger?

You have questions. I have some answers.

I just finished watching the last episode of “Like Water for Chocolate,” which had a cliffhanger. Will there be another season?

Yes. HBO announced a week ago that filming had begun on the second season of the drama based on Laura Esquivel’s novel (which also inspired a 1992 movie). The network says the new season “will continue to tell the story of love and struggle, rich in traditional flavors, set during the Mexican Revolution…. (It) became the most-watched Latin American content on Max globally and was among the top three most-watched series on the platform during its premiere month.”

When will the next season come out for “Emily in Paris”? It’s been a while.

A fifth season of the romance series is coming. Netflix hasn’t set a date, but it reportedly will start filming in May, with an eye toward telecasts in late 2025 or early 2026. And, as has been noted, at least some of the time it will be about Emily in Rome as she is exploring a relationship with a new fella, Marcello. That’s “a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” star Lily Collins told Netflix’s Tudum website. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

When I was little, my friends and I used to watch this syndicated TV show from Canada, that involved a summer camp of kids living in a wooden frontier fort that had adventures of putting out forest fires, helping tourists, etc. What was the name of the series?

I think you are remembering “The Forest Rangers,” which involved a group of young people helping rangers in Canada. With half-hour episodes made from 1963 to 1965, it was the first Canadian TV series produced in color. You can find episodes on YouTube.

Is CBS kicking off two of the “FBI” series?

Yes. The original “FBI” will be back in the fall. “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted” are ending their network runs — although there’s a chance that they could land somewhere else, such as a streaming channel. (When NBC took “Law & Order: Organized Crime” off the broadcast network after four seasons, the show moved to Peacock, where a fifth season will premiere on April 17.) However, the network is developing another show in the franchise, “FBI: CIA.”

Is there any chance Phil Keoghan will produce another season of “Tough as Nails”?

The competition series “Tough as Nails” got some good reviews during its five-season run from 2020 to 2023. There’s been no news about more seasons.
