Special election ballots due today in Clark County

Today is the last day for Clark County residents to submit their ballots to be counted in the special election.

Ballots must be postmarked by today, dropped in one of the county’s ballot boxes or returned to the Clark County Elections Office by 8 p.m. In-person voter registrations are due no later than 8 p.m.

The Battle Ground and Hockinson school districts each placed a levy on the ballot. Both districts seek approval from voters after failing in February.

Hockinson revised its request for a bond and now is seeking a six-year, $12.735 million school safety and security capital levy. Battle Ground is returning with the same four-year, $166.3 million levy that was placed on February’s special election ballot.

The city of Camas and Washougal placed a proposition to create the joint Regional Fire Protection Service Authority. If it passes, the joint department would continue to provide fire services in a 20-square-mile area within the boundaries of Camas and Washougal and emergency medical services within a 90-square-mile area surrounding both cities’ borders.
