Tyler Fehrer’s line-drive, walk-off RBI single capped a three-run rally in the seventh inning to deliver the Hockinson baseball team a 5-4 win over Columbia River on Wednesday.
Locked in a 2-2 stalemate through six innings, Columbia River’s Kellen Bashaw drove in two runs on a double in the top of the seventh to give the Rapids a 4-2 cushion.
Hockinson’s Treyton Fraki responded with a double to lead off the final frame. Kelso McAfee’s base hit put the tying run on. Both runners later scored on a Chase Bonife RBI single and Noah Tadema sacrifice fly, respectively, to tie the game. With two outs, Bonife scored on Fehrer’s walk-off base hit.
Bonife and McAfee each went 2-for-3 to lead the Hawks.
Hockinson starting pitcher Graham Learing went the distance with 11 strikeouts, four hits and two earned runs allowed.

Columbia River starting pitcher Harrison Hoffarth struck out 10 batters over five innings with three hits and no earned runs allowed. The Rapids’ defense committed four errors.
Combined with Monday’s win over R.A. Long, the Hawks (2-10, 2-5) won their second straight 2A Greater St. Helens League game and dealt the Rapids (10-3, 6-1) their first league loss.
Washougal’s Paul wins 2A GSHL girls golf invite
Washougal freshman Addison Paul earned medalist honors after carding a 77 in Wednesday’s 2A GSHL Invite at Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview.
Ridgefield freshman Evangeline Fulton finished runner-up after shooting 83, while Mark Morris senior Jana Knapp and Columbia River junior tied for third after each shot 86.
Columbia River took first place in the 18-hole match after shooting a combined 403 as a team.
Mountain View secures 10th straight 3A GSHL title in girls tennis
Mountain View won its 10th straight 3A Greater St. Helens League title Wednesday in girls tennis, topping Kelso, 4-2, behind a sweep in all doubles matches.
Lexi Frost and Addie Simonsmeier won in straight sets and Nos. 2 and 3 doubles –Sophia Andrushko and Sofia Montoya, and Mia DeFabio and Ani Reive — won matches in three sets. At No. 3 singles, Nataly Andrushko topped Avery Coburn in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0, to earn coach’s standout of the match.

Mikaila Warfield, Mark Morris softball, went 3-for-4 with a home run, five RBI and two runs scored in a 15-0 win over Woodland.
Ruby Lew, Columbia River softball, scattered five hits over six innings in the circle with 11 strikeouts in the Rapids’ 13-1 win against Hockinson.
Riley Young, R.A. Long baseball, had a dominant day on the mound in the Lumberjacks’ 6-0 win against Woodland. The junior left-handed pitcher struck out 16 of 22 batters faced and held the Beavers to one hit in a complete-game effort.
Kaitlin Simmons, Camas softball, went 4-for-5 with a team-high two doubles and three RBI to lead the Papermakers to a 13-4 win over Heritage.
Kadin Gibbons, Washougal baseball, paced the Panthers in a 12-4 win over Hudson’s Bay, going 4-for-6 with a double and three RBI.
Gavin Cole, La Center boys soccer, had two assists and a goal in La Center’s 7-1 victory over Kalama.
Alex Mejia and Luis Bautista, Skyview boys soccer, combined for nine saves in goal in a 0-0 tie with Camas.
Henry Wikstrom, Ridgefield baseball, had a team-high three RBI with a double and two runs scored as the Spudders came back from an early deficit to down Mark Morris 12-2.
