Columbia River took control in the 2A Greater St. Helens League title chase in boys soccer by rallying for a 2-1 win at Hockinson on Thursday night.

J.P. Guzman converted a penalty kick with about two minutes left in regulation to tie the match 1-1.

Guzman converted another penalty kick in overtime to give the Rapids the win.

The win improved Columbia River to 11-1 in league and gives the Rapids a five-point lead over second place Hockinson and R.A. Long with just two matches left.

Chen leads Camas girls golf

Jasmine Chen shot a 3-under-par 69 for 18 holes to win the medalist honors by six shots at the Mid-Columbia Conference Pasco Invitational at Sun Willow Golf Course.

All-Region Sports Awards Ceremony

The Columbian will be hosting its second annual All-Region Sports Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at The Hilton Vancouver Washington.
The event will be 6-8 p.m. Admission is $15 and includes food and drink. Tickets are available now by clicking on link.

With Chen leading the way, the Camas girls golf team edged Chiawana by one stroke to win the team title 245-256.

Reese Reiter shot an 84 to finish ninth for the Papermakers.

Titans rise atop 4A GSHL in baseball

Jacob Chandler was the star at the plate and on the mound as Union held off Camas 3-2 to move into sole possession of first place in the 4A Greate St. Helens League baseball standings.

Chandler belted a three-run home run in the third inning to put the Titans up 3-0. Then he made that lead stand up for 6.1 innings, striking out eight and walking one.

When the Papermakers rallied for two runs in the seventh, Clayton Holden came on in relief to close out the victory.

Stars of the day

Trey Snow, Kelso baseball, went 3 for 4 with a run a three RBI, including the go-ahead RBI in the bottom of the sixth in the Hilanders’ 6-5 win over Mountain View.

Seth White, Columbia-White Salmon baseball, went 4 for 4 with an RBI and three stolen bases in a 7-3 win over Kalama.

Case Iverson, Seton Catholic baseball, went 4 for 5 with four runs, a double and RBI in a 24-1 win over Fort Vancouver.

Sam Somarakis, King’s Way Christian baseball, went 3 for 4 with three runs, a double and three RBI in a 27-0 win over Stevenson.

Maddie Milhorn, Skyview softball, went 3 for 3 with two runs, a double, two home runs and four RBI, as well as striking out 14 of 16 batters she faced in a five-inning no-hitter as Skyview beat Union 13-0.

Ellie Travalia, Seton Catholic softball, went 3 for 4 with two runs, a double, triple and RBI in a 10-5 win over Fort Vancouver.

Sadie Schmidt, La Center softball, went 3 for 4 with a run, double, home run and four RBI in a 15-4 win over Castle Rock.

Mackenzie Moore, Prairie softball, threw a two-hit shutout while striking out nine in a 4-0 win over Yelm.

Cristian Leonzo, Hudson’s Bay boys soccer, had two goals and an assist in a 4-1 win over Mark Morris.
