A 19-year-old dad is accused of killing his newborn son while caring for him alone in Oregon, prosecutors said.

The 6-week-old baby got a brain injury April 16, the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office said in an April 28 news release.

The child’s mom went to work and left the baby with Maliki Israel Skutley, officials said.

At the time, the two were living at a Budget Inn hotel in Gladstone, officials said.

The child was then taken to a hospital with a life-threatening brain injury, officials said.

Police went to the hospital April 20 to investigate a “report of possible child abuse,” prosecutors said.

The child died three days later due to lack of oxygen to his brain and “blunt force trauma or extreme pressure,” officials said.

Prosecutors said the injuries happened while Skutley was caring for his son.

He is charged with second-degree murder and first-degree assault.

Gladstone is about a 10-mile drive southeast from Portland.
