Boys Basketball Roundup: Evergreen keeps postseason hopes alive

The Evergreen boys basketball team kept its postseason hopes alive with a 61-47 win over Kelso on Tuesday.

The Plainsmen have now won three in a row since snapping a six-game losing streak.

With one game to play, Evergreen (7-12, 3-4) is tied with Heritage for the last of three 3A Greater St. Helens League berths to the bi-district tournament.

Dez Daniel scored 20 points and surpassed 1,000 career points for Evergreen. The junior scored 14 points in the first half as the host Plainsmen led 36-22 at halftime.

Anthony Robinson scored 12 points to lead Kelso (6-14, 1-6).

4A Greater St. Helens League

CAMAS 76, SKYVIEW 36 — Ethan Harris scored 20 points as the Papermakers bounced back from a rare loss by beating the short-handed Storm.

Harris hit four of his team’s 12 3-pointers. Jace VanVoorhis added 17 points, including his 1,000th career point.

Camas (16-4, 7-1) rebounded from a loss to Union on Friday one day after clinching the 4A GSHL title.

Skyview (13-7, 4-4) was without leading scorer Malakai Weimer and Landon Webb, who both missed the game due to injury.

Ryan Hanson scored 13 points for the Storm, who face Union on Friday in a game to determine the 4A GSHL’s second and third seeds to the bi-district playoffs.

UNION 62, BATTLE GROUND 39 — Nick Burchett scored 30 points, including six 3-pointers, as the Titans earned a 4A GSHL home win on senior night.

Union (15-5, 5-3) trailed 21-13 after the first quarter but outscored Battle Ground 21-6 in the second.

James Gill scored 16 points to lead Battle Ground (3-17, 0-8).
