Letter: Compare costs for light rail

The article about the C-Tran board reconsidering light rail for the new bridge stated an enormous estimated amount of $20.2 million per year to operate a light rail line (“C-Tran board agrees to reconsider light rail financing for I-5 Bridge replacement,” The Columbian, Jan. 29). That sounds huge. But what it didn’t define was how much the annual projected cost would be to operate C-Tran bus service on the new bridge instead. Without that figure, there is no comparison to be had. Maybe the $20.2 million isn’t truly much of a reach.
