Letter: Learn from rental policies

I hope that answers can be found in the Clark County area with the lack of rental housing, in addition to affordable rental housing.

It was surprising not to read about the effect our previous governor’s rule that because of the pandemic, renters did not need to pay rent and they could not be evicted. Anyone thinking of building rental units during that time must have stopped in their tracks. But growth still occurred, with supply and demand laws forcing prices up.

This is not to pass judgment on what the governor did, just what the ramifications were that we are dealing with now. It would be helpful to hear from rental owners on what happened to them financially during the pandemic, in addition to how builders of rental housing acted.

Maybe we could learn something from that.
