Letter: Tell Congress to stand up

By Willie Dickerson, Snohomish

The editorial staff is right on insisting that Congress stand up as the co-equal branch it is. (“Congress must reassert status as co-equal branch,” In Our View, Jan. 31). A good start would be the ending of the freeze on foreign policy that has put millions of lives at risk around the world. USAID and global health programs are no longer able to do their lifesaving work.

Call those who represent us and ask them to do just that. After all, Congress appropriated the money that supports these programs, but it is currently paused. Ask Sens. Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, along with Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, to take action to put Congress back on equal footing.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
