Letter: Reject gun-control bill

By Dennis Franklin, Camas

The Washington State Patrol should be keeping the highways safe, not overseeing gun registration.

It would be required to duplicate the current background check system and develop procedures to verify annually that the permit holder remains eligible to possess a firearm. The State Patrol would need to submit annually to the Legislature the demographic data and the number of permits issued and denied, including race, gender, date of birth and county of residence.

These are only a few of the requirements of House Bill 1163. Vote “no” on this issue.
