Tonight could be the night for snow, ice or freezing rain, according to the National Weather Service in Portland, with winter precipitation pushing north into Southwest Washington.
The weather service put the Portland-metro area and Southwest Washington under a winter weather advisory from 4 a.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Friday.
“Precipitation will initially begin as mixed freezing rain and snow Wednesday night, transitioning over primarily to freezing rain on Thursday. Significant ice accumulations will be possible, impacting the Thursday morning commute,” the weather service said on its website.
Clark County residents can expect up to an inch of snow and up to a tenth of an inch of ice with winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
Prepare for slick roads and bridges.
The temperature at pearson Air Field in Vancouver was 19 degrees at &;30 a.m. with a high of 40 expected today and lows in the mid-20s over night.
Thursdays high is expected to be about 32 degrees with a low of 29 overnight.
Friday and Saturday are expected to be back in the low 40s.
East Clark County could see wind gusts of 55 mph with freezing rain continuing into Friday.

A cold weather advisory for most of Washington and Oregon is also in effect until noon today. The western Columbia River Gorge, along with Stevenson, Cascade Locks and Carson, are under an extreme cold warning through noon Thursday. Dangerously cold wind chill is expected to make temperatures feel as low as 0 degrees.
