Guard scores 14 points in 59-39 win over Raiders in 3A bi-district playoffs

Mylee Thompson hit a pair of 3-pointers during a pivotal third-quarter run as Mountain View pulled away from Thomas Jefferson 59-39 in a 3A bi-district first-round girls basketball game Friday at Mountain View High School.

The Thunder (15-6) will host River Ridge at 4 p.m. Saturday at Mountain View in a quarterfinal game. The winner will clinch a state playoff berth.

Mountain View took a 31-23 lead into halftime, although Sveva Bernasconi picked up her third foul right before the intermission.

Thomas Jefferson pulled with 31-25 before the Thunder went on a 16-2 run that was capped by back-to-back 3-pointers by Thompson, who finished with a team-high 14 points.

Bernasconi and Layla Senderson scored 12 points each for the Thunder.

RIVER RIDGE 61, KELSO 28 — The Hawks took advantage of 32 Kelso turnovers to roll to victory.

River Ridge stormed out to a 41-12 halftime lead.

Aubree Freeman scored eight points to lead Kelso, which will host Thomas Jefferson at 6 p.m. Saturday in a loser-out game.

Class 2A Girls

BLACK HILLS 51, MARK MORRIS 34 — Foul trouble and cold shooting hurt the Monarchs in a Class 2A District 4 first-round loss on the road.

Tyler Venable scored 11 of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter as Black Hills jumped to a 17-9 lead.

The Wolves, who finished second in the Evergreen Conference, will face either 2A GSHL champ Columbia River or Washougal in a winner-to-state semifinal on Monday in Chehalis.

Mark Morris (10-5) will face the loser of Saturday’s Columbia River vs. Washougal contest in a loser-out game Monday.

W.F. WEST 70, RIDGEFIELD 33 — The top-seeded Bearcats routed the Spudders in a first-round district game. Ridgefield will face Tumwater in a loser-out game Monday in Centralia.

No other details from the game were reported.

Class 3A Boys

TODD BEAMER 77, EVERGREEN 61 — Dez Daniel scored 37 points but the No. 13-seed Plainsmen saw their season come to an end in the Class 3A District 3-4 tournament.

Todd Beamer had five players score in double-figures. The No. 5 seed from Federal Way advances to another loser-out game against No. 7 seed Timberline.

Evergreen (8-14) trailed 34-20 at halftime and could not catch up in the road loss.

FEDERAL WAY 64, PRAIRIE 53 — Carson Morningstar scored eight of his 14 points in the third quarter, but could not keep Federal Way from building a lead that would carry the Eagles to a win in the 3A bi-district quarterfinal in Federal Way.

Federal Way led 29-21 at halftime, then stretched its lead to 46-32 after three quarters.

Jamir Jones and Malachi Patton scored 15 points each to lead Prairie, which will host White River on Tuesday in a loser-out game.

AUBURN MOUNTAINVIEW 72, MOUNTAIN VIEW 47 — The Thunder fell on the road to the top-seeded Lions in Auburn. No other details were reported.

Mountain View will host Silas of Tacoma in a loser-out game Tuesday.
