High School Playoff Boys Basketball Roundup: Prairie tops White River to stay alive

Carson Morningstar scored 36 points as Prairie moved one step from the Class 3A boys basketball state playoffs with a 88-73 win over White River in a District 3-4 tournament loser-out game Tuesday.

The No. 6 seed Falcons (15-8) now have two chances to qualify for state, starting with a home game Thursday against No. 7 Timberline.

Morningstar had 19 points in the first quarter as Prairie leapt to a 23-15 lead.

The Falcons outscored White River 26-16 in the third quarter, leading by as many as 25.

Malachi Patton scored 20 points and Jamir Jones added 13 points for Prairie.

SILAS 59, MOUNTAIN VIEW 55 — The No. 8 seed Thunder saw their season end with a home loss to the No. 14 seed from Tacoma.

Class 4A

CAMAS 63, OLYMPIA 46 — The top-seeded Papermakers reached the bi-district championship with a decisive win over the No. 4 Bears.

Camas (20-4) will face No. 2 Auburn or No. 3 Puyallup for the title on Saturday at 8 p.m. in Auburn.

EMERALD RIDGE 54, SKYVIEW 52 — The Storm’s season came to an end with a tough loss in a bi-district game on the road.

No. 9-seed Skyview fell to No. 6 Emerald Ridge despite 24 points from Malakai Weimer. The junior, who had been battling an injury, made seven 3-pointers.

Weimer had four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as Skyview (15-9) took its first lead with four minutes to play.

The Storm led by as many as five points before Emerald Ridge (17-7) pulled even with 1:19 to play.

Jamainze Griffin scored 21 points and was intentionally fouled on a breakaway inside the final minute to give Emerald Ridge a 53-49 lead.

Weimer hit a 3-pointer with 10 seconds to play. After Emerald Ridge made one of two free throws, Skyview attempted a 3-pointer in the final seconds that was off the mark.

SUMNER 56, UNION 52 — The No. 11 seed Titans saw their season end with a road loss at No. 8 Sumner.
