High School Playoff Girls Basketball Roundup: Mountain View one win from state

Layla Senderson scored 18 points as the Thunder moved one win from state by beating Silas of Tacoma 69-31 loser-out bi-district game at home on Tuesday.

Sveva Bernasconi scored 15 points and Jadlyn Senderson added 13 points as No. 4 seed Mountain View improved to 16-7.

The Thunder now have two chances to reach the 3A state tournament for the first time since 2001. That starts Friday against No. 3 seed Bellarmine or No. 8 Lincoln.

No. 15 Silas (11-16) was held in check early as Mountain View built a 30-10 halftime lead. Bernasconi had 14 points in the first half.

Class 1A

MONTESANO 67, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 50 — The Evergreen Conference champion Bulldogs overcame a slow start to reach the District 4 championship game.

Addison Bagley scored 22 points for the Knights, who face Columbia-White Salmon on Saturday in a winner-to-state, loser-out game.

King’s Way (15-5) led 17-11 after the first quarter and was tied 31-31 at halftime.

Ava Schrader scored eight of her 22 points as Montesano (17-6) outscored King’s Way 19-6 in the third quarter.

KALAMA 52, ELMA 42 — Aubrey Doerty had 22 points and seven rebounds as the Chinooks won a District 4 loser-out game on the road.

Kalama (13-9) played good defense early and led 28-10 at halftime.

The Chinooks face Hoquiam in a winner-to-state, loser-out game Saturday in Centralia.
