Letter: Trump ignores Constitution

By Davis Evans, Vancouver

I see a lot of references to Elon Musk and the “Department of Government Efficiency” in the news. There is no Department of Government Efficiency. There is a process to establish a new government department, including an act of Congress.

News media, including The Columbian, need to put the word Department in quotation marks, or in some way make it clear that this is not a real department. Nobody elected Elon Musk to any federal office. Nobody appointed him to head this department, which doesn’t really exist.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
