An Oregon woman died Monday night following a single-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes of the Interstate 5 in Kelso.

The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. near Milepost 44, close to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2884 North Pacific Ave. in Kelso.

According to a memo from the Washington State Patrol, a blue 2005 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Breauna L. Vaughn, 18, of Eagle Creek, Ore., left the roadway and crashed into trees. The memo states the 4Runner was going at a high rate of speed before the crash and that Vaughn died at the scene. The crash is under investigation.

Vaughn was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of impact, and intoxicants were not a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol’s memo.
