Enrollment for kindergarten for the fall is open on Battle Ground Public Schools’ website.
Children who will be 5 years old by Aug. 31 are eligible to enroll. Parents or guardians will need a child’s birth certificate or a way to verify their birth date. They will also need a signed and completed Washington state certificate of immunization status form or certificate of exemption. The state of Washington requires that immunization records be medically verified, according to the district’s news release.
Battle Ground encourages parents and guardians to enroll students early to take advantage of orientation in the spring and Jump Start, a four-day program for kids to get used to school before kindergarten begins, according to the release.
Jump Start runs Aug. 11-14; school starts Aug. 26. Kindergartners have a staggered start before attending full time.
Transitional kindergarten is an option for children who will be 4 years old by the end of August. Ages 3 to 5 can participate in Battle Ground’s preschool options or early intervention programs and services for those needing special education.
