A Washington State Department of Transportation pickup providing traffic control for a crash was damaged Wednesday when it was struck by a passing van on state Highway 500 near Interstate 205.
The crash was reported shortly before 2 p.m.
A 2004 Chevrolet Express traveling east on the highway attempted to pass the WSDOT work truck stopped in the eastbound lane. The WSDOT pickup, with its emergency lights on, was providing traffic control for an earlier crash. The van struck the driver’s side of the pickup, according to a Washington State Patrol crash memo.
Neither driver was injured.
Troopers cited speed too fast for the conditions as the cause of the crash.
