Vancouver man suspected of attempted murder held on $1.5 million bail

A Vancouver man is facing an allegation of attempted murder after police say he intentionally crashed his car into the motorcycle his son was riding, landing his son in the hospital.

Keith M. Altamirano, 52, appeared Thursday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder. At the prosecutor’s request, the judge also found probable cause for allegations of vehicular assault and hit-and-run resulting in injury.

Treasurer accused of stealing $110,000 from Ridgefield Little League

The former treasurer of Ridgefield Little League is accused of stealing more than $100,000 from the organization.

Eric W. Hebner, 43, of Ridgefield appeared Wednesday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of five counts of forgery and one count each of first-degree theft and unlawful issuance of bank checks. A judge placed him on supervised release, and he is scheduled to be arraigned March 5, court records show.

Clark County makes up to $60,000 in down payment help available to qualifying homebuyers

Up to $60,000 in down payment assistance is now available for some first-time homebuyers in Clark County — an opportunity that may become increasingly rare.

Clark County reopened its Down Payment Assistance program Tuesday after the program’s first round of funding ran out within a month, Clark County Treasurer Alishia Topper said.

‘Good trouble’: Presidents Day protesters in Vancouver pack Esther Short Park

Hundreds of sign-waving protesters filled Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver at noon Monday in a demonstration of ire at the new Trump administration that seemed to startle even some of the organizers.

The event was organized by grassroots progressive groups Indivisible Greater Vancouver and MoveOn Clark County. It was one of many Presidents Day protests planned around the country.

Rumors abound about former JCPenney store in east Vancouver but nothing is confirmed

The former JCPenney building in east Vancouver has drawn a lot of curiosity on social media lately. Some are saying its set to become a pickleball facility, but the building’s destiny isn’t clear.

The clothing retailer opened the store at 19005 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd. in 2008. It vacated that Columbia Tech Center building in October 2020. The retailer also has a store at Vancouver Mall.
