Washougal River Mercantile has new owners but they want to keep the store’s ‘hometown feel’

The Mercantile was owned by the Fuller family for nearly 50 years

Roger Malfait and his wife, Savannah Malfait, had a simple reason for wanting to purchase the Washougal River Mercantile, a general store that had previously been owned by the Fuller family for nearly 50 years.

“We just wanted to keep the store local,” said Roger Malfait, a lifelong resident of the rural area known to locals as “upriver” Washougal.
