PORTLAND — Jordan Duguay scored two goals and Ondrej Stebetak stopped 35 of 37 shots in goal as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Spokane Chiefs 5-2 on Thursday at the Memorial Coliseum.
It was Duguay’s first multi-goal game and first three-point night of his Western Hockey League career. He added an assist on Kyle Chyzowski’s 27th goal of the season in the third period for an insurance tally.
Duguay’s second goal at 9:18 in the second period put Portland in front 2-1. That was followed 26 seconds later by Winterhawks center Joel Plante’s first WHL goal. After Chyzowski’s goal, Plante then assisted on Diego Buttazzoni’s 18th goal of the season for a commanding 5-1 lead.
