Prep basketball (Jan. 2): Camas girls too much for Seton Catholic, 72-30

Keirra Thompson scored a game-high 19 points plus six assists, and Sophie Buzzard had 16 points as the Camas girls basketball team beat visiting Seton Catholic 72-30 in a non-league game Thursday.

Camas (7-1) held Seton (2-5) to 12 points in the second half.

Lauren Hood added 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and Lila McCarthy had 11 points for the Papermakers.

“Lila McCarthy played incredible tonight, all over the court on defense, and didn’t miss a shot on offense,” Camas coach Scott Thompson said.

CJ Moore and Remy Jenniges had seven points each for Seton Catholic.

Boys basketball

KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 55, ONALASKA 50 — Jackson Lovato scored 15 of his game-high 27 points in the second half as the Knights held off Onalaska for the non-league road win.

King’s Way (7-1) had a 17-9 lead after the first quarter, but Onalaska (3-6) came back to get within 1 at halftime at 27-26.

It would stay that way through the third quarter with King’s Way up 41-40 as Onalaska’s Blaze Underhill kept his team in the game with 21 points. However, Underhill did not score in the fourth quarter.

Radley Matson-Blighton added 14 points for the Knights.

HOCKINSON 71, THOMAS JEFFERSON 52 — The Hawks went on the road to Auburn and picked up the non-league win to improve to 3-5 overall.
