CAMAS — The Camas Lions Club is assembling mechanical prosthetic hands as a part of a project that aims to provide them for people in developing countries.
The organization said in a news release the funds that it raised during GivingTuesday funded the materials for the hands, which it said demonstrates how the community’s efforts can have international reach. Local volunteers will be assembling the hands Saturday, the organization said.
“This unique initiative provides prosthetic hands to individuals in developing countries, giving them independence, confidence and a better quality of life,” the Lions Club news release states. “Thanks to the generosity of our community, this impactful event will showcase how local contributions can drive global change.”
