Fort Vancouver boys basketball’s fast start set the tone in a 73-49 win over Kalama on Tuesday.
The Trappers led 28-13 after the first quarter en route to handing the Chinooks their first loss in Class 1A Trico League play.
Josiah Jointer scored 16 points to lead four players in double-figures for Fort Vancouver (7-3, 2-1). Isaiah Gonzalez had 13 points while Liam Cvitkovich and Leighton Livengood each added 11 points.
The Trappers forced 26 turnovers and had six players combine for 10 3-pointers.
Abel Koski scored 14 points and Drew Schlangen had 12 rebounds for Kalama (6-2, 2-1).
3A Greater St. Helens League
PRAIRIE 68, KELSO 49 — Carson Morningstar scored 24 points as the Falcons opened 3A GSHL play with a road win.
Griffin Smith scored 13 points and Jamir Jones added 11 points for Prairie (6-5, 1-0).
The Falcons made 20 of 29 free throws in a game that saw the teams combine for 42 fouls.
Reece White and Bronson Miller each scored 12 points for Kelso (3-9, 0-1).
2A Greater St. Helens League
RIDGEFIELD 72, WASHOUGAL 61 — Jamison McCann scored 27 points as the fast-starting Spudders earned a 2A GSHL home win.
Jack Hughes scored eight of his 16 points in the first quarter as Ridgefield took a 21-6 lead.
McCann scored 12 points in the second quarter as the Spudders (8-3, 4-1) stretched the lead to 39-17 at halftime.
Alex Frost scored 21 points and Jackson Multanen added 20 points for Washougal (3-5, 2-3).
COLUMBIA RIVER 83, HUDSON’S BAY 43 — Ari Richardson scored 22 points to lead the Rapids to a 2A GSHL home win.
Columbia River (9-2, 4-1) led 32-14 after the first quarter with John Reeder scoring nine of his 13 points.
Kelden Carney scored 16 points to lead Hudson’s Bay (0-9, 0-5).
R.A. LONG 72, WOODLAND 22 — Joshua Crane scored 21 points and Cameron Newsome added 13 points as the Lumberjacks rolled to a 2A GSHL home win.
R.A. Long (9-1, 4-1) outscored the Beavers 22-4 in the second quarter to lead 44-13 at the break.
MARK MORRIS 77, HOCKINSON 44 — Dalton Stevens scored 23 of his 27 points in the first half as the Monarchs cruised to a 2A GSHL home win.
Dre Ibarreta added 13 points as 12 different players scored for Mark Morris (10-1, 4-1).
Ethan Wall scored 11 points to lead Hockinson (3-6, 2-3).
1A Trico League
STEVENSON 74, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 67 — Jude Travinski scored 40 points as the Bulldogs finished strong for a 1A Trico League win.
Trailing 55-53 after three quarters, Stevenson got a boost as Leavitt Woodall-Schaeffer scored seven of this nine points in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs (2-7, 1-2) went 6 for 8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
Patrick Carney scored 33 points for King’s Way (8-2, 1-2). Jackson Lovato scored 12 of his 16 points in the first quarter for the Knights.
LA CENTER 92, COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON 61 — Jayce Grotte scored 18 points to lead five Wildcats in double figures as La Center pulled away with a 34-8 advantage in the third quarter.
Columbia led 37-35 at halftime before the Wildcats came out of halftime on fire.
Zayne Latham and Logan Rainey scored 16 points each, and Kaden Kohn and Gunnar Schockelt added 11 each.
Hunter Wang led the Bruins with 22 points.
SETON CATHOLIC 76, CASTLE ROCK 55 — Kaiden Wilson hit 10 3-pointers and scored 37 points as Seton Catholic improved to 3-0 in Trico League play.
Brady Angelo added 18 points for the Cougars. Riley Graunitz led Castle Rock with 21 points.
