Prep Roundup (Jan. 10): Fort Vancouver boys basketball edges Castle Rock in overtime

Isaiah Barajas scored 14 points and Isaiah added 11 points, including a key 3-pointer in overtime, as Fort Vancouver boys basketball beat Castle Rock 61-58 Thursday.

Fort Vancouver (8-3, 3-1) shot 10 for 16 from the foul line in the fourth quarter and overtime to earn the 1A Trico League road win.

Riley Graunetz made six 3-pointers for a game-high 18 points to lead Castle Rock (5-4, 1-3).

Boys basketball

R.A. LONG 68, RIDGEFIELD 46 — Joshua Crane scored 26 points, Rhet Young added 19 points and the Lumberjacks cruised in a clash of 2A GSHL co-leaders.

R.A. Long and Ridgefield were among four teams who entered Thursday at 4-1 in league play. The host Lumberjacks took control early, outscoring Ridgefield 18-5 in the first quarter and leading 36-14 at the half.

Jamison McCann scored 17 points and Jack Hughes added 15 points for the Spudders.

WOODLAND 68, HUDSON’S BAY 39 — Elijah Andersen had 15 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals to lead five Beavers in double-figure scoring as Woodland snapped a 10-game losing streak.

“I’m proud of how the boys responded after what has been a pretty tough few weeks,” Woodland coach Justin Gabbard said. “We talk about how strength and growth are created through consistent struggle and effort. They haven’t let a rough season deter them from loving each other or working hard. And that’s all I can ever ask of them.”

Jackson Gabbard added 10 points and seven assists. James Long scored 14, Tanner Cusisk had 10 points and Michael Belvin had 10.

MARK MORRIS 68, WASHOUGAL 39 — Dalton Stevens scored 22 points as the Monarchs used a 40-13 advantage in the second and third quarters to pull away.

“We knew we were in for a tough battle because Washougal is traditionally one of the toughest places in our league to play at and win,” Mark Morris coach Ken Kelly said. “After being tied 16-16 after one, we really dug in and played some good basketball.”

Mac West scored 12 for the Monarchs, and Drew Ibarreta and Carson Bogner had 11 each.

Jack Multanen had 14 points to lead Washougal.

COLUMBIA RIVER 90, HOCKINSON 57 — Ari Richardson scored 18 points Aaron Hoey had 16 points as the Rapids jumped out to a 26-9 lead after one quarter and ran away from the Hawks.

Kyle Alexander and Ethan Wall had 15 points each for Hockinson.

SETON CATHOLIC 87, COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON 51 — Brady Angelo hit seven 3-pointers and scored 35 points to lead the Cougars, who jumped out to a 38-2 lead after one quarter.

Kaiden Wilson add 18 points and Rico George had 15 as the Cougars hit 16 3-pointers as a team.

Mason Hamilton led Columbia with 23 points.

LA CENTER 87, STEVENSON 50 — Five players scored in double-figures as the high-scoring Wildcats rolled to a 1A Trico League home win.

Logan Rainey led La Center with 17 points and Peyton Larkin added 15 points.

Sharp Young scored 12 points and made four of La Center’s 11 3-pointers. Gunnar Shockelt and Parker McKinney each added 10 points.

La Center (6-4, 2-2) has won four in a row, averaging 78 points per game over that stretch.

Jude Travinski scored 18 points and Seth Green added 15 points for Stevenson (2-8, 1-3).

Girls basketball

PRAIRIE 55, SKYVIEW 48 — Emma Smith and Harmony Fallon each scored 20 points as the Falcons earned a non-league home win.

Smith made four of Prairie’s eight 3-pointers. Fallin did much of her scoring at the free throw line, where she made 11 of 14 attempts.

Prairie (6-6) outscored the Storm 18-8 in the second quarter to take a 31-22 lead.

Kaydance Stratton scored 15 points to lead Skyview, which was missing two starters.

The Storm (6-7) had 27 turnovers and shot 5 for 21 at the free throw line.

BATTLE GROUND 55, HUDSON’S BAY 10 — Marissa Loveall scored 21 points as the Tigers (5-10) earned a non-league win at home.

Lola Cooper added 16 points and made four of Battle Ground’s seven 3-pointers.
