Boys Basketball Roundup: La Center beats King’s Way as Trico League takes shape

As the Class 1A Trico League boys basketball standing become clearer, La Center has put itself in the mix.

The Wildcats earned a 66-46 road win over King’s Way Christian on Saturday. That moved La Center into a third-place tie with Kalama at 3-2 in league play.

La Center finds itself only behind Seton Catholic (5-0) and Fort Vancouver (4-1) in the Trico standings as the league season nears the midway point.

Ahead 29-22 at halftime, La Center gradually pulled away in the second half behind a balance attack that saw five players score in double-figures.

Jackson Lovato scored 19 points to lead King’s Way (1-4).

FORT VANCOUVER 89, COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON 45 — The Trappers caught fire in the second and third quarters of a Trico League home win.

Fort Vancouver scored 31 points in the second and 33 points in the third to blow open the game.

Leighton Livengood and Josiah Jointer each led Fort with 22 points.

Mason Hamilton scored 17 points for Columbia-White Salmon.

CASTLE ROCK 86, STEVENSON 65 — A big game from Jude Travinski wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs dropped a Trico League game at home.

Travinski scored 38 points and made seven 3-pointers. The sophomore guard entered the day averaging 17.4 points per game, fifth in the Trico League.

Riley Graunitz scored 20 points to lead five Castle Rock scorers in double-figures. Jacob Lefever scored nine of his 13 points in the second quarter as the Rockets took a 46-25 lead into halftime.

SETON CATHOLIC 75, KALAMA 47 — The Cougars remained undefeated in the Trico League with a dominant win at home. Scoring details were not provided.
