Girls Basketball Roundup: Adrian Wright’s big game leads Evergreen in 3A GSHL opener

Adrian Wright scored 35 points as Evergreen opened its Class 3A Greater St. Helens League season with a convincing road win Friday.

A 5-foot-5 senior who has been first-team all-league the past two seasons, Wright shot 12 for 17 from the field.

Kimora Ross added 15 points and Courtney Neal scored 12 points for Evergreen (5-8, 1-0).

Jaila Ellis scored 20 points to lead Heritage (4-8, 0-2). The Timberwolves were held scoreless in the first quarter and trailed 34-9 at halftime.

MOUNTAIN VIEW 57, KELSO 19 — Layla Senderson scored 17 points as the Thunder rolled to a home win.

Sveva Bernasconi scored 16 points and Jadlyn Senderson added 15 points for Mountain View (7-6, 2-0).

Kelso (5-6, 1-1) couldn’t recover after falling behind 17-2 in the first quarter. The Lassies were outscored 27-10 in the second half.

2A Greater St. Helens League

RIDGEFIELD 51, R.A. LONG 36 — Madison Ingham scored 20 points and the Spudders used a big second quarter to earn a home win.

Ridgefield (3-8, 3-3) outscored the Lumberjills 25-4 in the second quarter to take a 35-21 lead.

Alauna Brown had 17 points, including four 3-pointers in the first quarter, for R.A. Long (4-7, 2-4).

MARK MORRIS 57, WASHOUGAL 39 — The Monarchs used a strong second half to secure a home win.

Ahead 26-25 at halftime, Mark Morris pulled away behind balanced scoring and tough defense.

Reese Johnson finished with 14 points and Kadance Gorans added 13 points for the Monarchs (7-4, 4-2).

Jenna Klopman made four 3-pointers and scored 19 points for Washougal (3-6, 2-3). Riley Vaughan added 14 points.

COLUMBIA RIVER 71, HOCKINSON 29 — Avi Desjarlais scored 13 points as the Rapids remained unbeaten in league play.

Olivia Carroll scored 12 points, Peyton Dukes added 10 points and 10 different players scored for Columbia River (10-1, 6-0).

Dannika Grant scored 13 points to lead Hockinson (1-10, 1-5).

WOODLAND 70, HUDSON’S BAY 2 — Kennedy Bockert had 20 points and 10 rebounds in a lopsided road win that kept the Beavers (9-3, 5-0) perfect in league play.

1A Trico League

KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 60, LA CENTER 31 — Bridget Quinn and Addison Bagley each scored 18 points as the Knights rolled to a road win.

Trailing 15-12 after the first quarter, King’s Way (6-2, 3-1) outscored the Wildcats 19-3 in the second quarter.

Riley Schultz scored 10 points to lead La Center (5-5, 2-2).

SETON CATHOLIC 47, KALAMA 34 — The Cougars clamped down on defense for a road win to remain unbeaten in league play.

Madison Lee finished with 15 points and CJ Moore scored 12 of her 14 points in the first half for Seton (5-6, 5-0).

Aubrey Doerty scored 12 points to lead Kalama (3-6, 1-3).
