Battle Ground police are investigating a weekend hit-and-run that left a pedestrian seriously injured.
Police were called to a reported crash near the 3300 block of West Main Street at around 9 a.m. Saturday. A concerned motorist called 911 after seeing someone lying in the north-side lane.
Officers arrived and found an unconscious woman with significant injuries. She was taken to the hospital, where she remains in serious condition, police said.
Due to the severity of the woman’s injuries, Washington State Patrol responded to assist with the investigation.
According to initial reports, the pedestrian was walking west on or near the roadway when she was struck by a passing vehicle. The vehicle left the scene without providing assistance. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences to identify the vehicle and driver involved in the hit-and-run crash.
