Boys Basketball Roundup: Carson Morningstar scores 30 as Prairie win sets up 3A GSHL showdown

Carson Morningstar scored 30 points as Prairie beat Heritage 69-58 on Tuesday to set up a 3A Greater St. Helens Leauge showdown with Mountain View.

Malachi Patton added 18 points for Prairie (8-5, 2-0). The Falcons and Mountain View are both unbeaten in league play and face off Friday.

Patton and Morningstar each had eight points in the third quarter as Prairie stretched its lead to 52-41.

Delorian Holmes and Jose Zacarias each had 14 points for Heritage (5-9, 1-2).

MOUNTAIN VIEW 52, EVERGREEN 47 — Malcolm Weatherspoon scored seven of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Thunder improved to 3-0 in league play and 10-4 overall.

Evergreen (4-9, 0-2) stayed close thanks to Dez Daniel. The junior guard scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half and was 11 for 11 from the free throw line.

Tied 33-33 after three quarters, the game swung to Mountain View in the fourth. Tre’von Hughes-Farmer, Jack Fournier and Trey Johnson III each had four points in the final period.

4A Greater St. Helens League

UNION 70, BATTLE GROUND 32 — Pat Howe scored 18 points as the Titans handily won on the road.

Nick Burchett and Kody Holcomb each added 12 points for Union (10-3, 1-1).

Collin McGowan scored 10 points to lead Battle Ground (3-10, 0-2).

1A Trico League

LA CENTER 68, KALAMA 56 — Jayce Grotte scored 17 points, Logan Rainey added 16 points and the host Wildcats pulled away down the stretch.

Kalama twice cut the deficit to three points in the fourth quarter. But Parker McKinney scored seven of his 14 points in the final period to help La Center (8-4, 4-2) secure the win.

Abel Koski had 22 points and eight rebounds for Kalama (7-4, 3-3).

SETON CATHOLIC 93, STEVENSON 37 — Rico George scored 35 points as the Cougars stayed perfect in Trico League play with a road win.

Ben Deochand added 13 points as 11 players scored for Seton Catholic (7-5, 6-0).

Jude Travinski scored 12 points and Liam King added 10 points for Stevenson (2-10, 1-5).

FORT VANCOUVER 61, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 49 — Samuel Howard scored 19 points as the Trappers stayed hot with a road win.

Leighton Livengood added 18 points as Fort Vancouver (10-3, 5-1), which was won five in a row.

Jackson Lovato scored 25 points to lead King’s Way (8-5, 1-5), which dropped its fourth straight.
