Clark County is seeking volunteers to serve on the new Agricultural Advisory Commission, which will make recommendations on issues affecting agriculture to the county manager, county council, planning commission and other boards.
The commission will also provide a forum for those in the agricultural community and others interested in enhancing and promoting the long-term sustainability of agriculture in the county.
The county is seeking 13 volunteers for the committee. To ensure a diverse representation of various aspects of farming and the agricultural industry, the team will include: one member from the Clark Conservation District; one member from the Cowlitz Indian Tribe; one member from the agricultural processing industry; one member representing consumers of agricultural products; and one member with expertise in agricultural programs. The remaining eight members will represent large-scale and small-scale agricultural producers.
The initial terms will be staggered with six members appointed for two-year terms and seven members serving four-year terms.
