Josh Zakreski scored two goals, but the Portland Winterhawks’ rally fell short in a 5-4 loss at Prince Albert on Tuesday.

After winning at Brandon and Regina in the first two games of a six-game Western Hockey League eastern swing, the Winterhawks (23-15-2-1) played from behind all game as the Raiders (21-15-3-0) took a 2-0 lead in the first period.

Zakreski got his first goal of the game just 1:01 into the second period with assists from Tyson Jugnauth and Kyle Chyzowski. This would be one of six goals scored in period.

Jugnauth tied the game at 7:48 of the period, only to have the Raiders get the next two goals for a 4-2 lead.

Chyzowski netted his 30th goal of the season at 16:22 on a power play with assists from Alex Weiermair and Jugnauth. But again, the Raiders answered with 2:32 to play in the period to keep it a two-goal advantage.

Zakreski scored his second goal 2:17 into the third period for his fifth multi-goal game of the season, but that would be all the scoring for either side.
