Prep Roundup: Woodland girls basketball team rolls to 70-43 win over Ridgefield

The Woodland girls basketball team bounced back from its first 2A Greater St. Helens League loss with a wire-to-wire 70-43 win over Ridgefield on Thursday.

Lainey Haiden, who led Woodland with a game-high 22 points, came out firing in the first quarter by hitting three of her five 3-pointers as the Beavers led 24-7 through one quarter.

Kennedy Bockert posted a double-double of 21 points and 21 rebounds, and Addi Stading chipped in seven points for the Beavers (11-4, 7-1).

Madison Ingham led Ridgefield (4-10, 4-4) with 21 points.

Girls basketball

COLUMBIA RIVER 79, WASHOUGAL 46 — After a slow start, the Rapids exploded for 31 points in the third quarter to down the Panthers.

Gracie Glavin scored 10 of her game-high 20 points in the third, helping the Rapids increase their lead to 63-39 entering the fourth. Mikayla King scored 16 points, Kaya Mirtich tallied 12 points and Camy Drake added 10 points.

Washougal, which held a 16-15 advantage at the the end of the first quarter, was led by Jenna Klopman’s nine points.

R.A. LONG 50, HOCKINSON 39 — Alauna Brown’s game-high 22 points and Brianna Garwood’s 15 paced the Lumberjills in their 2A GSHL win at home. 

Evelyn Ofstun added a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds. She also had three blocks.

A 16-point second quarter by Hockinson cut a 12-point deficit to four, before the Jills pushed their lead to 29-22 at halftime.

“Proud of the girls in their effort,” RAL coach JD Ott said, “as this was a needed win to start the second half of our league schedule.”

Dannika Grant led Hockinson with 11.
MARK MORRIS 62, HUDSON’S BAY 13 — The Monarchs got balanced scoring from the entire lineup, led by Kea Makaiwi’s 11 points, in its 2A GSHL win. 

Boys basketball

FORT VANCOUVER 61, LA CENTER 43 Already with a five-point lead entering the fourth quarter, the Trappers won their sixth straight Trico League game behind a 21-8 fourth quarter.

Leighton Livengood paced Fort Vancouver with 16 points and Isaiah Barajas added 13 points on three 3-pointers. Fort Vancouver moved into second place in the Trico League standings and will face defending league champion Seton Catholic on Saturday.

Logan Rainey led La Center with 10 points.

CASTLE ROCK 58, KALAMA 49 — The Rockets forced 20 turnovers and held the Chinooks to 26 percent shooting from the floor in a Trico League road win.

Castle Rock’s Owen Keatley and Colton Warren each scored a team-high 12 points, and Trevor Rogan added 11 points.

Gavin McBride scored 13 points to lead Kalama and Abel Koski added 12 points and 16 rebounds.

COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON 70, STEVENSON 69 — Four Bruins reached double figures in scoring led by Mason Hamilton’s 20 points in a back-and-forth game against the Bulldogs.

Hunter Wang scored 13 points, Jaden Wang had 12 points and Bryce Wang chipped in 10 points.

Stevenson, which was led by Jude Travinski’s 19 points, jumped out to a 21-11 lead in the first quarter before Columbia cut into its deficit to get within 35-29 at halftime. The Bruins then outscored the Bulldogs 20-13 in the third quarter.
