College notebook: Addison Harris quickly earns role for 17-2 Montana State basketball

Freshman from Camas contributes off the bench

Addison Harris has wasted no time fitting in at Montana State women’s basketball.

The true freshman from Camas has become a key player off the bench for the Bobcats, who are 17-2 overall and 9-0 in the Big Sky Conference.

Harris has appeared in 16 games, averaging 5.0 points in just over 18 minutes. The 6-foot-1 forward had six points and three rebounds in Montana State’s 58-56 win over Eastern Washington on Monday.

Last season, Harris led Camas to its first state championship averaging 17.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She was The Columbian’s All-Region player of the year for a second consecutive year and a Class 4A All-State pick.

Here are some other notable performances in the past week by college athletes from Clark County:

Squeeky Johnson, Bushnell men’s basketball — The junior from Skyview scored 14 and 8 points in wins last weekend over Northwest University and The Evergreen State College. Johnson has played all 18 games this season, averaging 11.8 points per game.

Anna Mooney, College of Idaho women’s basketball — The sophomore from Seton Catholic scored 23 points in a win over Multnomah University last Friday. Mooney was 8 for 10 from the field, including 6 for 8 from 3-point range.

Kam Osborn, Oregon Tech men’s basketball — The grad student from Prairie scored in double-figures in two wins as the Owls improved to 14-3. Osborn scored 14 points Friday against Walla Walla and 13 points the following day against Lewis-Clark State.

Kylie Ritter, George Fox women’s basketball — The junior from Hockinson made her first start of the season, scoring 13 points and playing 32 minutes in a loss to Whitman on Saturday. Ritter has appeared in 14 of 15 games and is averaging 8.8 points per game.

Keanna Salavea, University of Providence women’s basketball — The sophomore from Heritage scored 19 points in a 58-52 win over Montana State-Northern last Thursday as the Argonauts improved to 11-5.

Ava Smith, Utah State women’s basketball — The true freshman from Union had career highs of nine points and 25 minutes Thursday, hitting three 3-pointers in an 85-66 loss to San Diego State.
