A pedestrian was seriously injured when they were hit by a car Wednesday night in Minnehaha, according to the Clack County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident is the second in two days that left a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries in Clark County.

According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, deputies responded about 6 p.m. to the 5200 block of Northeast Minnehaha Street after a 911 caller reported a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle. Deputies, the Vancouver Fire Department and AMR arrived to find a person lying in the roadway with serious injuries. The person was taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperative with investigators, according to the sheriff’s office. There were no signs of impairment.

The road was closed for several hours for the investigation.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating in the case, which is considered active.

Not even 24 hours earlier, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Vancouver Mall Drive. The driver in that case is cooperating with the investigation and also showed no signs of impairment.

The identities of the pedestrians and the drivers in each of the incidents have not been released.
